Ina G. Tabor Social Work Scholarship

Ina Tabor was the first full-time employed social worker in Tioga County with a masters of Social Service Administration. Ina had a long and distinguished career as director of Children’s Services of Tioga county from 1959 to 1976. Near the end of her career, Ina, at the request of Mansfield University’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology, served as a field placement supervisor for students taking the casework track in the Sociology major. During her association with Mansfield’s social work program until her death, Ina was a regular contributor of social work journals, books and selected social work literature that was made available to students for their study. Ina also served as a volunteer consultant for the development of Mansfield University’s social work curriculum, providing information on child welfare legislation and regulation, child programs, knowledge and values consistent with social work and the PA Department of Welfare. She became a member of the Department’s professional advisory committee during the initial years of accreditation.This scholarship was established in her memory to provide perpetual financial assistance to worthy student(s) pursuing a degree in Social Work.
